Arisia is a huge science fiction convention in my hometown of Boston. The thing I like about it is that you never know what’s waiting for you around any given corner. Will be be a setpiece from a steampunk movie? Will it be a Star Wars Stormtrooper made of cake? Will be be Phil Foglio, one of my all-time artist heroes (since his days of “What’s New?” and the illustrated Myth editions)? You just never know!
This year I was privileged to have been asked to sit on two panels, one on the use of humor in fiction and another on the use of games in fiction. I also served as a judge in Arisia’s first-ever short story contest for kids. There were some very fun and creative entries from young authors I’ll be looking for on the shelves someday (if there are still “shelves” by then).
Thanks to everyone who attended my reading and signing events. See you next year!
